Day 8: Gratitude; It's the Little Things

Gratitude is a form of self care that helps you see what’s there instead of what isn’t. But during busy times it may be hard to slow down and appreciate the little things. It’s ok if it’s hard to feel grateful at times, especially around the holidays. Between Christmas shopping, wrapping gifts, and the new year approaching it seems like there’s no time for gratitude! After all, it’s the busiest time of all!

So today we challenge you to slow down in the midst of your chaos. By shifting your focus and thinking about the things you are grateful for you cultivate positive emotions and shift your focus from what’s wrong or causing stress in your life to the things in your life that mean the most.

Think about:

  • Something that made you smile today
  • Your favorite food
  • Something you need everyday
  • Something/someone that feels like home
  • Something that makes you feel calm
  • Something that keeps your body healthy
  • Something you’re proud of
  • Something beautiful
  • Something that makes you feel safe
  • Something that makes you laugh
  • Your favorite place
  • Something you love in your room
  • Something in nature you’re grateful for
  • Something that makes you feel special
  • Something that smells good
  • Your pet(s)
  • & the people in your life that love you

& of course the best for last, be grateful that you are YOU.  No one is you, you are enough just as you are & the world is a better place with you in it!
